Last Saturday night marked the 16th Annual Baseball Canada National Teams Awards Banquet & Fundraiser held at the Toronto City Centre Hotel. A night where many former and current Baseball Canada National team players gather to celebrate the past year.
This year the Naylor family took center stage to accept two of this years Baseball Canada Awards. First, was C/SS Noah Naylor who won the Baseball Canada Junior National Team Most Valuable Player Award. Noah has been apart of the Junior National team for years and has been a staple in their line up since being added by Greg Hamilton. Noah was apart of the WBSC 18U World Cup team that finished fourth this past Summer in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Noah is currently ranked #2 on the Canadian Baseball Network 2018 Draft List, and is ranked #47 on MLB.com’s 2018 Draft Prospect List.
Next up was 1B/OF Josh Naylor who won the Baseball Canada Alumni Award presented by the L.J Pearson Foundation. Josh began the season in the San Diego Padres organization with the Lake Elsinore Storm (A-Advanced) where he hit .297, with 8 HRs and 45 RBIs over 72 games before being promoted to the San Antonio Missions (Double-A). In San Antonio, Josh played 42 games, hitting 9 doubles, 2 HRs and had 19 RBIs. Josh is currently ranked as the Padres #10 Prospect by MLB.com and looks to continue his push to the big leagues this Spring.
Congratulations to both Noah and Josh on their awards this past weekend.
