With Spring Training complete and the CPBL/FJSL schedules getting underway in a few weeks it’s time to look ahead at where the Ontario Blue Jays teams will be competing south of the boarder this Summer.
At the 13U, 14U and 15U teams will continue to compete in “closer-to-home” tournaments including the Sports Force Golden Spikes Classic (Sandusky, OH), Firecracker 4 Day Classic (Georgetown, DE), Cincinnati Flames Summer Classic (Cincinnati, OH), Beast of the East (Wheeling, WV), and All-American Classic (Columbus, OH). One change for our 15 & Under Program will be their attendance at the 2019 Marucci World Series in Baton Rouge, Louisiana which will prepare them for the travel that will follow during their following years.
The Ontario Blue Jays are known for the extensive travel and exposure their players are given throughout their OBJ Careers. The saying “you have to play the best, to be the best” has never been more true for the organization as OBJ looks to challenge themselves each and every July. This Summer will feature many familiar events at the 16U and 17U levels as their schedules for the first time will shadow each other at their respective age groups.
First up, both teams will be attending the World Wood Bat Association National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia at the beginning of July. The WWBA National Champhipships are concerned the high-scouted events in North America for high school aged players. Over 300 teams attend these events from all over the United States and Puerto Rico making for an outstanding event and providing our teams with great exposure while attending.
The next stop for the teams will be Houston, Texas for the Future Stars Series National Trials run by Jeremy Booth and Program 15. This five-day event features teams invited from across the US to come together for a one-of-a-kind event that includes a Combine Day and tournament games. While Program 15 may be new to the summer tournament schedule, it’s events are outstanding and the exposure is phenomenal.
The last stop of the month comes in late July at the Marucci World Series where our 15U, two 16U and 17U teams compete against fellow Founders Club Programs in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Marucci World Series is an incredible experience for the OBJ players both on-and-off the field as Marucci works tirelessly to provide an outstanding professional on-field experience as well as allow players to enjoy some time off-field with an Opening Ceremonies held at Alex Box Stadium (Home of Louisiana State University) which included a Home Run Competition, Fastest Man Competition and a fireworks display. In addition, all players, coaches and fans are invited to private party on night two of the event which featured a concert, games, and more!
The Ontario Blue Jays 16 & Under Program has a lot to live up to this summer as their will be defending their championships at the Future Stars National Trials and the Marucci World Series.
Lastly, the Ontario Blue Jays 18 & Under Program will be attending the Connie Mack World Series National Qualifier in Flint, Michigan in mid-July. The tournament features 12 teams from accross the United States hoping to qualify for the prestigious Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico in late July.
