OBJ to the Sweet Sixteen at Cooperstown

This past week OBJ 12U Feijo embarked on another drive to another tournament, but this one slightly more exciting than most as they headed to Cooperstown Dreams Park.  Cooperstown has been a staple for young baseball teams since the last 1990’s and continues to be today.  Teams from all across the United States and Canada travel to attend their tournaments each year.  This was the first Ontario Blue Jays team to compete at Cooperstown and the Jays didn’t disappoint.

OBJ Feijo began the week with a bang as they finished Round Robin play in 8th Place with a 6-0 record.  OBJ outscored their opponents, 93-13 over the six games against teams from Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, and Ohio.

McHenry Cobras 1 Ontario Blue Jays 13 – HR: Chae (1,2), Simpson (1), Wilcox (1,2)

Grayson Rams 2 Ontario Blue Jays 23 – HR: Baker (1), Chae (3,4), Mann (1), Reilly (1), Savely (1)

West Kentucky Outlaws 3 Ontario Blue Jays 7 – HR: Chae (5)

Mid-Atlantic Warbirds 3 Ontario Blue Jays 15 – HR: Chae (6,7), Simpson (2)

Kansas City A’s 1 Ontario Blue Jays 15 – HR: Chae (8), Savely (2)

Nordonia Knights 3 Ontario Blue Jays 20 – HR: Baker (2,3), Chae (9), Savely (3,4)

OBJ advanced to Bracket Play with a bye and faced off with the Texas Cannons defeating them 13-1 in a four inning mercy.  The Jays were lead offensively by Brenden Walker, Brandon Wilcox, and Azaad Mann as they all had multiple hits and RBIs.  Yoon Chae added his 10th Home Run of the week and picked up the Win on the mound throwing three innings, allowing no hits, while striking out five.

The next game was in the Sweet Sixteen against the West Pine Cobras out of Florida.  Unfortunately, the Jays ran out of offence and fell to a very talented Cobras team, 16-3.  The Ontario Blue Jays finished 10th out of the 104 teams who attended Cooperstown.

Congratulations to our OBJ Feijo Staff, Players and Families on an incredible week!
