Brown finishes 2021 as the 19th ranked Blue Jay

As the MLB and MiLB off-season begins to heat up, let's take a look at an Ontario Blue Jays alumnus who's currently amongst some of the most talented in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, outfielder, Dasan Brown.

Brown was selected in the 3rd Round, 88th Overall by the Blue Jays in the 2019 MLB First-Year Players Draft. Brown spent his youth baseball career playing for his hometown Oakville A's before making the jump to OBJ for his 16 and Under season where he and his teammates put together one of the best years in program history. Brown continued to develop within the program before being selected to join the Canadian Junior National Team where he showcased his ability on the international stage before committing to Texas A&M University.

Per MLB.com: Projections with Brown need to be viewed through a long-term lens, as he and the Blue Jays will be working to develop the other tools around his elite-level athleticism. As the fastest player in the system and the best defensive outfielder, though, there are already a pair of exceptional abilities in place. Brown ’s quick-twitch ability is evident in his bat speed, but there’s work to be done with his swing and pitch selection. As Brown matures physically, there could be some added pop to come along with it and he’ll have no trouble stretching doubles into triples.

In his second season as a professional, Brown played for the Dunedin Blue Jays (A-Affiliate). He suited up for 51 games, collecting 42 hits including 8 doubles, a triple and 4 home runs while adding in 22 stolen bases for the Jays in the Florida State League. Dasan will work to continue his ascent in the Blue Jays organization this coming Spring.
