MLB Mid-Season Update: Naylor, Romano & Pop

A week removed from the "Mid-Summer Classic", the MLB All-Star Game, let's take a look back on a strong first half from our three Ontario Blue Jays in the MLB.

The hometown hero, RHP Jordan Romano of Markham, Ontario continues to shoulder the load for the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen as they make their return home enext week and push towards the post-season and an American League East title. Romano has thrown 33 innings, compiling a 4-1 record with 7 saves while adding 41 strikeouts along the way. Healthy and hungry for more, Romano will bring his 100mph fastball back to Toronto next week for the first time since 2019.

A season cut short, will be the reality for Mississauga-native, OF Josh Naylor who suffered a significant injury in a game for the Cleveland Indians a few short week ago. Although Naylor will not make his return to the Indians (soon-to-be-Guardians) lineup this year, he continues to support his teammates and community during this rehabilitation. Prior to injury, Naylor appeared in 69 games, collecting 59 hits including 7 home runs while driving in 21.

Finally, the newest Major Leaguer, RHP Zach Pop who's Marlins continue to battle amongst the National League East. The Brampton, Ontario natives nasty stuff has been talked about throughout the MLB, making appearances across social media platforms to breakdown the movement and difficulty for hitters. Pop has thrown 34 innings, picking up a win and striking out 34 hitters along the way for Don Mattingly's Marlins.
