OBJ x Baseball Development Group Partner
The Ontario Blue Jays (OBJ) and Baseball Development Group (BDG) are excited to announce a partnership beginning in the Fall of 2022. Both OBJ and BDG are well respected figures within the Ontario baseball community and beyond, the partnership will add to the already strong Ontario Blue Jays Pitching Program as well as assisting in fostering more community based interest in high level baseball development in the Greater Toronto Area.
OBJ Pitchers who live in Toronto and across the GTA will be able to utilize BDG’s facility and staff to complete their weekly OBJ practices in lieu of travelling across the city to The Athlete Matrix (Home of the Ontario Blue Jays). This hybrid schedule between BDG and The Athlete Matrix will allow players to save on travel time and travel expenses while still receiving professional level instruction in either location.
In addition to the partnership, Tyler Dobos and Lennon Richards will join the Ontario Blue Jays in Pitching Consultant roles alongside Pitching Coordinator Mike Steed and Assistant Pitching Coordinator Jared Kennedy beginning in Fall of 2022. Adding the main driving force behind BDG in Tyler and Lennon will only add to an already strong OBJ Program. Tyler and Lennon have proven that the BDG process and development model breed great pitching development at the amateur, collegiate and professional level. The OBJ Pitching Program will be designed by Mike, Jared, Tyler and Lennon to ensure our players receive seamless professional level instruction regardless of the location.
OBJ Director of Player Development, Conner Morro, “I’m excited about this partnership with BDG as Tyler and Lennon can provide significant value to our pitching program. They are both creative thinkers and solid communicators as coaches. Our pitchers will instantly reap the rewards of what they bring to the table, as an addition to the great program Mike and Jared already have in place.”
Lennon and Tyler on the partnership, "We're excited to expand our relationship with the Ontario Blue Jays to continue to grow the game of baseball in Ontario and develop the next generation of Canadian pitchers. Taking the individualized training BDG is known for and integrating that into a team setting is a challenge that both of us look forward to."
The partnership stands firmly in the belief that the Ontario Blue Jays and Baseball Development Group are solely committed to the ongoing development of youth, high school and professional baseball player development within the Greater Toronto Area.
