Williams joins OBJ Coaching Staff Full-Time

The Ontario Blue Jays are pleased to announce the addition of JD Williams to the OBJ Coaching Staff as infield and hitting instructor.

Williams comes from a long and successful baseball background including his time with the Bantam National Champion Brampton Royals, before moving forward to the Ontario Blue Jays in 2012.  During his OBJ career the winning continued, he was apart of two major OBJ Championships, the 2013 AABC Mickey Mantle World Series in McKinney, Texas and the 2015 Perfect Game BCS Championship in Fort Myers, Florida - both event championships were a first for any Canadian team.  JD graduated OBJ with a full scholarship to State College of Florida (NJCAA D1) but chose the professional route after being selected in the 17th Round of the MLB First Year Players Draft.  Williams played four seasons with the Reds from 2015-2018 with the the AZL Reds, Billings Mustangs, and Dayton Dragons.

Darren Shred, Head of Alumni Relations and JD’s teammate for over ten years had this to say about the addition, “I am so excited about adding JD to our coaching staff.  Playing with him for as long as I have I know how great of a player he was and an even better teammate.  Guys have a lot to learn from him, he’s played at the highest level and has so many different skill sets.  I think its amazing getting all of these OBJ Alumni back into the program.  We are all winners and we are going to teach the kids how to win and more importantly be a family.  It is only going to get better the more of our guys we bring back into the organization!“

Williams will work alongside fellow 2015 OBJ Graduate and former longtime teammate Conner Morro to teach the OBJ Infielders this off-season.  Welcome back, JD!
